But, there's another thing they have in common... they're greasy, fatty foods known as FOG and they're all bad for the pipes in your house and streets. Why? When poured down the drain, the fats, oil and grease cool, turn hard and stick to the insides of sewer pipes. Over time, the buildup blocks sewer pipes. When that happens, it causes a gross sewer backup or overflow in your house or onto neighborhood streets. These messes are smelly, dirty and bad for our environment!
